As Canada’s only National family owned and operated utility submetering and billing company, Rick had the foresight over 18 years ago to build Carma Industries Inc., including 12 years fostering Carma Billing Services Inc. Before building the Carma brand, Rick had a 25 year career with Johnson Controls in the Systems and Services Division. His entrepreneurial spirit led Rick to spend 5 years developing a new Canadian Facilities Management Company, now owned and managed by Brookfield Management and 3 years developing another Canadian facilities management company, now known as SNC Lavalin O & M.

Ross Pilkey
Head of Research and Development, Ph.D
Ross is a Systems Design Engineer and has been with Carma for 34 years, 20 of those in the metering industry. In 1992, he was lead engineer integrating TD Centre and Commerce Court. For over a decade, Ross was actively involved with Carma’s School Board initiatives designing various strategies that provide timely energy information to school board facilities manager. Ross's recent work is providing real-time energy information designed for individual schools for student and teacher use. He's also actively involved in the roll out of real-time metering and data acquisition with the Toronto District School Board.

Shannon Williams
Vice President & COO, CBSI
Shannon Williams, a journalism major, graduated top of her class. Working for both, regional and national magazines she concentrated her efforts on magazine post production and print. In 2004 Shannon joined the family business starting as office administrator. Shannon learnt the business from the ground up. In 2006, Carma Industries realised an opportunity to offer monthly billing and collection services with the introduction of Carma Billing Services Inc. Shannon has spearheaded the new venture and is responsible for the day to day operations with the core focus on customer relationships, agreements and project startup. Today Carma Billing Services Inc is one of the largest energy billing companies in Canada and in 2011, Shannon was ranked 49th in Profit Magazines Top 100 Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneurs.

JARRETT WILLIAMS
Vice President, Eastern Canada
With diplomas in Material Management and Distribution and Environmental Waste Management, Jarrett started his career with Binney and Smith Canada as a Senior Materials Distribution and Facility Manager. He was responsible for the Canadian Distribution of Crayola/ Laurentian/ Revel Monogram and Hallmark products. In 1996, he joined Carma Industries Inc. and has spent 20 years in several strategic roles essential to undertaking the responsibilities as Carma’s Vice President for Eastern Canada.

Doug Bryan
Vice President and General Manager, Western Canada
Doug is an industry veteran with 45 years’ experience. Starting with Electrical apprenticeship, Technical sales, and Senior Sales Management positions with Siemens Electric Canada. Doug furthered his career as a District Sales Manager at Wesco Distribution LP. Adding to his impressive credentials is a B. Ed in Physical Sciences which he received from the University of Alberta. As VP and General Manager, Doug’s focus for Carma is developing and expanding sales growth within the Western Provinces.

MELISSA DUNN
Director of Finance
As a Commerce Accounting Major perusing a CPA designation, Melissa uses her 10 plus years of experience to oversee all financial operations and direct corporate financial planning and structure for Carma Industries Inc. Since joining Carma three years ago she continues to develop, implement and maintain accounting and administrative policies and procedures for a wide-ranging set of activities including financial accounting and reporting, employee relations (hiring/terminating policies) and other corporate policies.

PAUL ELLIOTT
Director, Carma Billing Services
Paul has been in the utility industry for 30 years in both the private and public sector. Sitting on numerous Ontario Energy Boards and working committees during deregulation of the electricity market and the introduction of smart meters. He was a member of the Municipal Electrical Associations Communication Council and also sat as a Board Member of the Ontario Electrical League for 6 years. Paul received his BSc Degree in 1986 and in 2013, joined CARMA Billing Services overseeing the Customer Service and Billing Departments. Paul ensures the practices of the Corporation meet regulatory requirements of provinces that CARMA serves and that CARMA’s high customer service standards are maintained.

BRIAN AITKEN
Sales Director, Commercial
Brian is Director of Commercial Sales and is responsible for providing a clear vision for the commercial and retail markets. He has almost 20 years experience, 8 of which with Carma. Brian is a forward thinker providing leadership and knowledge anticipating the organization needs. He is passionate about the role Commercial and Retail buildings play in transforming our economy to a sustainable one, with a belief that leadership has to come from business. Brian has spoken publicly on Building Sustainability through Submetering at PM Expo and other industry forums.

BRIAN BENNETT
Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.)
Brian is a C.E.T. including a designation from the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists with over 38 years experience, 11 of them with Carma. Brian designs and sells multi-tenant electronic utilities sub metering systems and billing solutions for the commercial, retail and institutional sectors. He is proficient assisting clients to utilize their sub-metering systems as a monitoring and targeting tool to identify and address energy reduction opportunities.

STEVE HOWARD
Manager of Meter Services
From a System Representative (Field Tech), to Facility Manager for prestigious institutions like Mount Sinai Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital and Pearson International Airport to the Eastern Canada Operations Manager, Steve’s 23 plus years with Johnson Controls fully prepared him to take on the day to day operations of Carma’s Toronto office. Since joining Carma in 2004 as Manager of Meter Services, Steve’s 36 years of industry experience has proven invaluable as the Operations Manager. His day to day responsibilities require he certify projects are installed properly and meet all MC requirements, all staff are properly trained and follow procedures for all Carma products and services. He also will interview and hire new staff and assist with sales when needed.

FIZAL MCDOOM
Project Manager
As Project Manager, Fizal is responsible for the day-to-day Operational and Technical aspects of Carma’s multiple small to large scale projects. He plans and co-ordinates the Electrical, Gas and Water sub-metering of New Condominiums, Residential Retrofit, Commercial Retail/High-Rise, School Boards, Colleges and Universities. Fizal has a diploma in Computer Programming and Operations along with a certificate in Treasury and Human Resources and 4th level CGA. Another element to him managing Carma Projects, is being responsible for 10 Sub-metering Technicians, 2 full-time electrical contracting companies and co-ordinate with City of Toronto, multiple electric utility companies and natural gas providers.
